When the original Galaxy Fold launched at an unheard-of $1,980, people were sceptical about sales. But as the Fold and the Z Flip showed, demand defenitely existed for these fragile but futuristic piece of tech. As Samsung prepares for the Fold 2 (and potentially a cheaper Fold e) release, they are planning to clear out existing stock with a “new” Galaxy Fold Special Edition.
There’s actually nothing new about this Fold, just that the price will be dropped substantially to just $1,099. The Fold 2 will no doubt be better with less fragility, but the Special Edition for this pricing will attract a decent crowd wanting to experience the future. It will release in July, with quantities limited to about ~55K worldwide.
TL,DR: Galaxy Fold gets an insane price drop to $1,099. Would you buy it?
