The rumors of the Poco F2 series being a Redmi K30 series rebrand caused quite the uproar on Twitter. Fans of the brand felt betrayed, since the super-successful Poco F1 was a unique phone which offered a lot for the price. I wasn’t disappointed, since regardless of whether it’s a rebrand or not all I want is a great phone with value for money.
Adn here we are, a few short days later with the Poco F2 Pro being pfficially announced. No news of the cheaper F2, but expect it to be a K30 rebrand. Usually I go through all the spec details, but all you have to know is that it has the same internals as the K30 Pro – flasgship specs for half the price.
But here’s the problem, which was something I didn’t notice. The K30 Pro, oddly enough, had only a 60Hz display. In a hyper-competitive budget flagship segment, this was already a disappointment. And unfortunately, the Poco F2 Pro has the same shortcoming. In a market like India where buyers even compare Benchmark results when buying phones, this will not go unnoticed.
Priced starting at $499, the Poco F2 Pro undercuts revials like the OnePlus 8 in many regions. But in India, OnePlus has kept competitive pricing, and you’re getting a 90Hz screen and a cleaner software for essentially the same price.
TL,DR: This is nowhere near as exciting as the Poco F1. Get a OnePlus 8 instead.
