Yet another Galaxy Fold rumor has surfaced, this time from Max Weinbach. He has specs for a “Fold Lite” to be released alongside the Fold 2 later this year. This phone is different from the “Galaxy Fold Special Edition“, which suggests a Galaxy Fold price drop.
The Fold Lite is supposed to come with the following specs:
- Only 4G support
- Snapdragon 865
- 256GB storage
- Smaller outer display, like the Z Flip
- Inner display won’t have UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) layer
- Mirror Black, Mirror Purple colors
- A mix of 2018/19/20 parts like the S10 Lite
This device is rumored to cost $1099. With both the Fold price reduction and this rumored Lite variant, Samsung is making the right moves to increase the sales of it’s foldable lineup. The Z Flip sold in large numbers due to it’s much cheaper price comapred to the Fold, and this rumored foldable will drive sales and make folding technology more accessible. The lack of UTG will have have an impact on durability though.
TL,DR: A rumored cheaper Samsung Fold Lite will make foldable smartphones accessbile to a larger audience and drive sales.
