Ever since it’s launch, the Epic Games Store has released free games as limited time exclusives – and the latest game to get the special treatment is Grand Theft Auto V. The game which launched all the way back in 2013 still has an active online community and huge mod library. From now till the 21st of May, you can get GTA V for free on the game store. Forever yours.
But this has had an unexpected side effect, players worldwide have rushed onto the store to get the game. The traffic increase was so exponential that their servers went down. This could be affecting other Epic services as well, like in Fortnite, where they have acknowledged server issues. Hopefully, Epic scales up their servers soon and gamers worldwide can access a legendary title for free.
