A new mid-range phone from OnePlus has been hitting the rumor mill for quite some time now. Twitter leaker Max. J has been slowly giving us information over the past two months. His prediction of a July release window turned out to be true (as we’re seeing now).
The name was speculated to be OnePlus Z or 8 Lite, but the new series is being called OnePlus Nord. I speculate OnePlus did actually want to go with Z, but they saw the leaks and wanted to rebrand. What we do know about the phone is that it’ll have a hole-punch notch, a quad-camera rear setup, upto 12GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 765G.
OnePlus has put up a pre-order notification without actually giving out any details about the product, which means people are going to buy it purely based on speculation and leaks. Today at 1:30 PM IST, 100 phones are expected to be up for sale. The UK site says there will be two more pre-order windows, on the 8th of July and the 15th. Pre-orders will cost around 1,900Rs.
CEO Pete Lau has said this will be a series of phones, rather than just one product. The phones will stay under 500$, with models expected to accommodate different price ranges. What do you think of their new strategy to compete with budget brands like Realme, Redmi, and Honor?
