OnePlus Buds – AirPods Killer?

Following the success of the bullets wireless series, OnePlus’ first attempt at creating a true wireless in-ears has resulted in a pair of buds that’s reliable, convenient, and does its job. The “OnePlus Buds “ with an attractive price point and the promise of convenience and long battery life, could be appealing for those not looking to spend a fortune.

With a close resemblance to Apple Airpods, It is completely built of plastic. It features a teardrop-shaped head that tapers into your ears. The stem features a cylindrical extension. It also houses a round touchpad used for touch controls. This panel can be mapped to attend calls, music controls, or use the voice assistant which is exclusive only to OnePlus phones. However, these buds are not capable of noise-cancellation or isolation due to the lack of a seal. The buds charge with a charging case that snaps the buds into place magnetically.

The buds connect seamlessly with an OnePlus Phone, welcoming the user with a pop-up window, similar to Apple Airpods for quick pairing. Once connected, a notification appears indicating the current battery life of the case and the earbuds. However, this feature is exclusive only to OnePlus Phone users. It also houses Bluetooth 5.0 for faster and more stable pairing with a 10-meter wireless range.

The Buds are capable of music playback for about 7 hours out of the case. They get an additional 23 hours of battery that can be delivered with the case. 10 minutes of charging grants you with 10 hours of listening. Each bud can work independently and it auto-pauses when removed from the ears.

If you love bass, then you’ll love the OnePlus Buds. It is prominent with well-balanced sound and plenty of detail that gives a good sense of the audio. It has a dynamic, impactful sound that is full. Sub-mid tones are not much defined but the EQ is tuned very well with very little distortion.

The OnePlus Buds are available in White, Gray, and Nord Blue colors priced at ₹4,990.

This our first impressions on the buds, we’ll be dropping a review shortly once we get our hands on it. Stay tuned!
