Galaxy Buds Live | A new take on earbuds design

The Samsung Unpacked 2020 event reeled in a new breed of products, and among the most anticipated is the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live.

Following up on the Samsung Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Buds Plus, this new edition features a kidney-shaped structure that stands out compared to other rivals in the market. It has a very unique design that affects the fit, sound, noise isolation, and a lot of other prerequisites. A lot of tech has been baked into these buds, along with active noise cancellation — which has been a much-requested feature on the older versions.

The buds have a black, white, and bronze color scheme that will have matching charging cases. Structurally, the case is small but on the thicker end. Powered by USB-C port on the back of the case, it can also be alternatively charged wirelessly.

A LED indicator is placed on both the interior and the exterior of the case indicating the battery status of the case and its contents.

The buds have sensors that can register touch controls like a single, double or triple tap that aids in various music navigation controls as well as volume controls. It can also be remapped to use the Bixby function on any Galaxy smartphone that supports it. It can also be used in par with Spotify with auto-ear detection to play music as soon as the buds are popped in. It is also loaded with three microphones along with a highly efficient voice pickup unit. The speaker has a decent sized bass duct for good audio quality. It is also seamed with other sensors such as an accelerometer, IR sensor, etc.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live is backed with quick-charging which grants an hour of playtime just with five minutes of charging. The buds should last six hours on a full charge and the case should provide an additional 21 hours of charge.

The buds have Bluetooth 5 baked into them for better syncing and connectivity. The Samsung wearable app now allows two different sets of buds to be connected to the same device and both the sets can be completely controlled from the connected device. To keep the audio stream uninterrupted, the buds utilize Samsung’s proprietary Scalable Codec with avoiding audio lagging and distortions by tweaking the bit-rate of the connection. The AKG powered 12mm drivers along with the bass duct seem to produce a crisp and deep well-balanced audio output. The buds also have mini air-ducts that help in using the buds throughout the day without any discomfort.

In a sweeping overview, The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live is a really good pair of truly wireless headphones for the price, for android users. They provide a well-balanced sound that can be tuned and personalized to the user’s preferences using the Samsung wearable app.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds will be available in Mystic Black, Mystic White, and Mystic Bronze at $169.99
