Apple Event | Exciting reveals on September 15th

For Apple-related leaks and speculation, I’ve mostly trusted Jon Prosser — and with his information, was awaiting the new iPads and Apple Watch to have a soft release today. But unfortunately, Apple had other plans. No products were revealed today, so Prosser was wrong on one thing. But, at least he got the release week correct. Apple did reveal something though, the Apple Event.

The invites are out — the Apple Event will take place on the 15th of September, starting at 10 a.m. PDT (10:30 p.m. IST). The immediate question is, what are they going to showcase at the event?

If we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic, the answer would be simple — everything from the iPhone to the Apple Watch. But this time, we’re faced with iPhone 12 production delays due to the virus. The invite has the caption “Time Flies.”, which clearly indicates a new Apple Watch. Leaks have shown the new iPad and iPad Air are pretty much ready as well, so that could happen too.

The confusing part is whether we’ll see new iPhones at the event. There are two sides to this — one that there’s no way Apple would hold a two-hour event for just the Watch and iPad (and it says Special event too, usually only reserved for the fall iPhone event), and the other saying that because of production delays the iPhone event will happen later in October. Personally, I’d lean toward the first theory, but we’ll have to wait and watch for more leaks / the actual event. We might even see AirTags.

Regardless, it feels great to hear the announcement. Apple is pretty much the only company that’s mastered how to do an online event (just see WWDC20), so it’ll be exciting to see what they do this time.
