Just like every other year, Apple unveiled the successor to the previous generation Apple Watch. The Series 6 is a refresh to the series 5 with new colours, few minor updates and one big feature – Blood Oxygen Monitoring
What’s New?
The Series 6 maintains the same overall design and features introduced with the Apple Watch Series 5, but it has a new S6 Chip and a variety of new sensors to allow for things like blood oxygen monitoring and better sleep tracking.
Blood Oxygen Monitoring
With the Apple Watch Series 6, you can measure your blood oxygen right from your wrist. The new health sensor is the series 6 shines red and infrared light onto your wrist and measures the amount of light reflected back. Advanced algorithms use this data to indicate the colour of your blood and measure your blood oxygen levels in just 15 seconds.

New Processor
The Series 6 includes the 6th generation high performance dual-core processor based on the A13 Bionic in iPhone 11 that is optimised for the Apple Watch. According to Apple, the S6 is 20% faster than the processor found on the Series 5.

Other Features
Along with features from WatchOS 7, the Apple Watch brings few other improvements and features to the Series 6.
Always On Display
The display on the Apple Watch remains similar to the Series 5 but now has an Always On Display that’s two and a half times brighter outdoors when your wrist is down.
Always On Altimeter
The Series 6 also features an always on Altimeter that provides continuous elevations throughout the day that shows your elevation live right on your watchface.
New Watch Faces
There are 7 new watch designs added to the collection:
- GMT Face: Shows multiple time zones at once
- Count Up Face: Let’s you start tracking elapsed time from any given point
- Chronograph Pro Face: inspired by classic racing watches, the watch face features multiple time scales include tachymeter to measure speed based on time travelled a set distance.
- Typograph Face: Numerals can be displayed in three custom styles and four different scripts.
- Human Face: Collaborated with Geoff McFetridge, the face displays unique piece of art with millions of combinations that animates when you raise your wrist.
- Memoji Face: Brings memojis to your watch that moves and reacts to your touch.
- Stripe Face: Offers the pride flag and flags to support your favourite teams on match what you’re wearing.

New colours and Watch Bands
Apart from the standard standard silver, grey and gold aluminum colours, the Series 6 comes in blue and product red. It also has steel and titanium variants, with different colour options in both materials.
The Series 6 also debuts three new band styles without traditional clasps or buckles. The Solo Loop has stretchable band design that comes in two materials: soft silicone and braided yarn. There are updates to the Apple Watch Nike with new colours and a new watch face. For Apple Watch Hermès, there’s the all new Attelage Band in single tour and double tour.

The Apple Watch Series 6 is the best Apple Watch you could get right now. However, it wouldn’t be worth an upgrade if you have the Series 5 or 4.
