Apple always is a garden for consumers with various needs. Hence, it is habitual for the trillion-dollar company to provide more than one variant of a device. But this year, Apple has managed to pop out our eyes with 4 different variants of the iPhone 12 in contrast to last year where only three variants of the device were available.
Out of the four, two of them are successors to the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max but with a few hardware tweaks and add-ons with some screen to body ratio buff.
Before we dive deeper into the iPhone 12 Pro, here are the links to the other products announced today: (will be updated as the articles are posted)
Design Aspect

Finally, Apple is bringing back the retro sharp edge design to this year’s iPhone 12 lineups.
The Pro and the Pro Max are finished with premium-grade materials that are durable and of surgical grade. To achieve the mirror-like finish on the Pro models, Apple is allegedly using modern high-end technology, giving them a very luxurious appearance Apple is said to have made several big strides, debuting a new material they call “Ceramic Shield.” The new glass/ceramic material produced in collaboration with Corning Glass promises to be 4x more shatter-resistant than the Gorilla Glass solutions of the previous decade, which would ideally add to the devices’ durability and structure.
All the Pros are sealed for official IP68 rated water and dust resistance. In the category of wireless charging, other hardware architecture improvements have been made. On all the latest computers. Apple has implemented MagSafe, which is a new wireless charging coil surrounded by a ring magnet array. This can now be latched onto the phone thanks to the magnets in combination with a MagSafe accessory, ensuring perfect wireless charging coil alignment at all times.
The MagSafe feature can also be used for consumers who like to use phone wallets. Apple offers leather wallets with MagSafe to aid the same. The system would also be effective through protective cases, so fast and reliable wireless charging regardless. Apple’s new MagSafe Charger will cost $39, and MagSafe-enabled cases start at $49.Apple also unveiled a dual folding charger for both your phone and Apple Watch which will be exciting to see as it could be a refreshed version of the long-forgotten “Airpower”.
Apple’s Vision

This will be the first time,iPhones won’t come with earbuds or power adapters, but only with a type-c to lightning cable. This could be an issue, but it’s Apple taking a huge step towards an environmental conservation point of view. By eliminating these factors, Apple will be able to go to a zero-carbon footprint state shortly. The reduced size of the phone container will also aid in higher shipping rates up to 70% according to Apple’s claims which is an added advantage.
Processor Capabilities

The iPhone will come with the latest apple chip: The A14 Bionic. Apple has already announced the chip with the launch of the iPad Air back last month. The CPUs also have 2 + 4 cores, Apple claims a 40 percent performance increase compared to the A12 which could end up being a 16 percent increase compared to the A13. Similarly, they had found a 30 percent improvement in GPU production over the A12, and when we normalized that it would reflect a more meager 8.3 percent increase over generations. Apple also compares its A14 chip’s performance to the closest smartphone rivalry, citing a 50% performance superiority in both CPU and GPU performance.
Display

The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will also come with the Super Retina HDR display. The iPhone 12 Pro will have a screen expanse of 6.1-inch and the Pro Max will house a 6.7-inch display. The Pro Max’s Super Retina HDR Display will have a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio for better accuracy of colors and much deeper blacks, OLED screen with 2778 x 1284 pixels with a peak brightness of 1200 nits and 458ppi. This will enhance better video quality with HDR enhancing with a much wider dynamic range which can be taken advantage of using 5G.
Camera Module

The Pros come with a very promising re-take on the productivity side of their devices. However, The iPhone 12 Pro adds in a 12MP 52mm 2x optical magnification telephoto module to the bunch, which again on paper appears to be similar or the same as found on the 11 Pro series.
The key large module of the 12 Pro Max, which is the latest 12MP sensor with 1.7μm pixels, is a unique camera of the whole line-up, which can result in a sensor scale between 1/1.7′ and 1/1.8.’
The iPhone 12 Pro Max is detached from the regular of the line-up. First of all, with a longer focal length, it has a somewhat different telephoto module, going up to a 65 mm equivalent, but sacrifices a little light when it downgrades from f/2.0 to f/2.2.Deep Fusion will be on all cameras including the front-facing selfie camera.
The image stabilization of this new design is also remarkable since it is the first handheld camera design that uses the stabilization of the sensor transfer, where the real sensor shifts around rather than the module’s optical lens components. With this new mechanism, Apple offers a complete f-stop stabilization benefit, which will certainly aid low-light photography.
In the sphere of video recording, Apple is now introducing 10-bit HDR recording in Dolby Vision format for all the phones, although only the Pro models feature the additional 4k 60fps capability.
There’s also the implementation of SmartHDR 3, being able to hold more data than ever in high-dynamic-range scenes. The introduction of the Apple ProRAW format, a RAW container that has an improved bit-depth for your classic post-capture image changes, and maintains all the computational photography image adjustments produced by the phone’s processing.
The Pro models feature an additional LiDAR sensor that functions effectively as a form of a 3D sensor for time-of-flight. In terms of being able to 3D scan objects and spaces, low-light focusing aid is one major use-case of the new sensor, with Apple stating that focus in such conditions is now up to 6x faster.
These major leaps which Apple took with the help of its in-house silicon have brought exceptional computational outputs within our hands and these Pro models will take productivity on a joy-ride.
5G Connectivity

For the first time, Apple brought 5G with its iPhone 12 lineup. All of the iPhone 12 models this year support 5G sub-6 networks and millimeter waves. The new cellular network, up to 10 times quicker than your home Wi-Fi, is expected to be lightning fast. Many of the latest smartphones in the 12 series are 5G compliant, at least in some countries, with fully featured wireless capabilities with the new standard. As all other global models only support sub-6GHz 5G NR networking, mmWave also sees acceptance across the board, but only in the US market. What was interesting was that Apple claimed to have done substantial work on designing custom antennas for the new models, built into the iPhones 12 ‘s new metal frame(it will be exciting to see Jerry’s teardowns to see these modems!)
However, until now, we have not seen enough proof of 5G coverage around the world to be sure that if you purchased these phones, those rates are what you would encounter. 5G is accessible only in selected cities, typically bigger metro areas, differs wildly by the carrier, and you practically need to be parked under a 5G tower to take advantage of the highest speeds.
Apple has also developed a feature called Smart Data Mode, which automatically switches iPhones to an LTE link to save battery power when 5G speeds are not needed.
Colors, Pricing, and Availability

The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will come in for stainless steel finishes; Graphite, Silver, Pacific Blue(my favorite), and Gold.
The iPhone 12 Pro models are very basic in their pricing since they are in line with the phones of the previous generation. The 12 Pro starts at $999, while at $1099 the 12 Pro Limit comes in.Both variants will be available in 128GB ,256GB AND 512 GB storage options.
The iPhone 12 Pro will be available for pre-order on October 16th and will be shipped on October 23rd.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order on November 6th and will be available on November 13th
