Expanding Nord | Leaks show cheaper Nord variants

The OnePlus Nord was a huge success for the brand. Going with marketing terms like “pretty much everything you could ask for, as a pretty great price”, it attracted a huge audience who couldn’t afford their main flagship series, which has seen steady price increases throughout the years.

Trying to add on to the success of the first Nord phone, they’re adding more to the series. Leakers Steve Hemmerstoffer and Max J. have brought up a lot of information regarding the upcoming models.

Nord N10 5G

Max recently shared the above image, sneakily showing off the design of one of the phones, called N10 5G. Sporting the 8t camera design, It is supposed to be the Nord variant for markets like the US and Canada, where the Nord wasn’t available before. Steve reports the specs as:

  • Display: 6.49-inch FHD+ with 90Hz refresh rate
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G
  • Memory: 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage
  • Rear camera: 64MP Primary + 8MP Ultra-Wide + 2MP + 2MP
  • Battery: 4300mAh
  • Other Features: 5G, USB-C, Headphone Jack

So, the N10 5G seems like a slightly less powerful Nord with a slightly better main camera, for a potentially lower price. The inclusion of a headphone jack might delight some folks — but personally, I find it rather redundant when there are plenty of cheap wireless earbuds out and about.

Nord N100

This phone seems to be the cheapest Nord OnePlus is going to offer. We have no concrete information on the design yet, but expect it to be similar to the current Nord — with one less camera and plastic back.

  • Display: 6.52-inch HD+ LCD display
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 460
  • Memory: 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM
  • Rear camera: 13MP Primary + 2MP Macro + 2MP Bokeh
  • Front camera: 8MP
  • Battery: 5000mAh
  • Other Features: 4G only, Dual-SIM, USB-C, Headphone Jack

The Nord N100 seems like a very low-budget offering. That’s noticeable from the unnecessary triple camera setup which really doesn’t do anything (looking at you, 2MP Macro and depth), and large 5000mAh battery to combat phones from the competition.

Release Date, and Conclusion

As per Steve, both phones will be released by OnePlus on the 26th of October at 12PM (GMT), so those who’re interested in these phones can look out for that day. At lower price ranges, the competition might have better specs in some departments, but OnePlus could flaunt the smoothness and cleanness of its OxygenOS. Regardless, more options for the consumer is always better.
