Mere hours after the Series S design and pricing got leaked, Microsoft has announced the product officially. Touting it as having “Next-gen performance in the ˢᵐᵃˡˡᵉˢᵗ Xbox ever”, Microsoft is making big claims here. Launching at $299 (or $25 per month with Xbox All Access), the pricing makes it a steal, considering you’re getting much better performance than the One X — at half the price.

Looking forward to sharing more! Soon. Promise. pic.twitter.com/8wIEpLPVEq
Microsoft has promised to reveal more information “soon”, but we have some more data from the leaks. It’s rumored to have a cut-down 4TF RDNA2 APU, compared to the 12TF APU on the Series X. Even with what looks like a substantial loss of hardware, the much faster Zen 2 CPU cores and SSD should make it faster than any previous-gen product. We’re pretty sure it won’t be a 4K-based console, rather running next-gen games at nice frame rates on 1080p, with ray tracing support as well.
The leaks have given us some details about the Series X. It will apparently be priced at $499 (or $35 per month with Xbox All Access), the exact same launch price as the One X. Both consoles will launch on the 10th of November.
Overall, the pricing on the next generation of Xbox consoles looks great, and promises great value for money. Now the ball’s in Sony’s court to unveil the PS5’s launch price.
